If you’re and entrepreneur, coach, or consultant, one of the fastest ways to grow your business and jumpstart your results is to get the right message in front of the right people! There are a few simple strategies that can help you leverage the power of speaking to groups, selling one-on-one in a sales presentation or in your online marketing videos.

Let’s face it, a presentation gone wrong is a waste of your time, and energy, AND it erodes your expert status. So we want to be sure we arm you with the right tips, tricks, and strategies to maximize every business-building opportunity! In our last article we talked about the Top Myth of a GREAT PRESENTATION which is that a great presenter needs to be born with “it”. We pretty much blew that out of the water. This is not an inherited trait. You just need to invest a little time and energy honing the skill!

One Interactive ICT solution which is gaining huge positive response is a Visualiser. A Visualiser is a presentation and training resource that consist of a stage and a camera that gets easily connected to Interactive Whiteboard, Computer and Projector. The objects placed on the stage is then projected onto an Interactive Whiteboard via a ceiling mounted Projector. The image or data can be captured on the PC and then annotated using software tools or saved for future teaching sessions or reference.

Visual Aids Help Your Audience Engage If you are giving a long talk, you have to expect that people will have some trouble concentrating during at least a part of it. When people are asked to sit and listen, they have difficulty focusing because they are asked to engage with their ears only. The best way to prevent this problem is by adding a visual element of some kind.

One of the most popular ways to do this is with portable trade show displays. A table top display or other small portable displays provide a lot of information in a small space. Plus, portable units tend to be inexpensive, making them available to academics on a tight budget.

A well-designed table top display will be able to communicate the main points of your discussion without being so revealing that it practically makes your talk unnecessary. Portable trade show displays are also useful for showing any kind of graph or other visual aid that is referenced during your presentation.

If a table top display or other portable displays aren’t in your budget, then you’ll want to make use of printed flyers for anything that your audience will need to see. Portable trade show displays are better because they don’t distract from you on the stage, but printed flyers can be an acceptable substitute.

Offer the Dream or Solution. Don’t sell your product or service, sell people on having the dream or the transformation you offer. Focus on what your product DOES for your clients (the benefits) or HOW your services help companies just like theirs! Its a small shift that makes all the difference.

Human Existence And Public Speaking

Public speaking and it’s history is thought to be as old as human existance. Hundreds of years ago or even thousands according to history books there have been public speakers. It is thought that public speaking is a huge part of our development.

Throughout our history people have been passing down information from generation to generation by way of story telling. Public speaking has been passed down throughout history.

It is amazing to think that some experts believe that the ancient Egyptians were so well versed at public speaking that they even created a sort of manuscript on how to do it.

It’s exciting when you realise that public speaking isn’t just localised to one country. It has actually been around in every country on the planet throughout history.

You may not know that public speaking really came about in the form that we know it in the year 300 BC by a man called Demosthenes from Athens. He has a passion for public speaking yet he was also held back because of his speech impediment.

A story about him says that he was so determined to be a public speaker that he places several small stones in his mouth for a couple of weeks to try and cure his problem and when he took the stones out he could talk perfectly normal and went on to be one of the most famous speakers of his time.

Many people have a fear of public speaking. It can be quite daunting but some experts in the field say that the best way to get over your fear is to face it. And that’s possibly the best way when it comes to public speaking. At the end of the day what’s the worst that could happen? If people are taking the time to listen to you then you must have something worthwhile to say.

As I’m sure you know the US has also had some wonderful speakers. Namely, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King. Both are connected to some of the most famous speeches ever. Especially Martin Luthers “I have a dream”.

At any point in time in human history there have been great speakers. Let’s not forget the great Winston Churchill who delivered not one but several famous speeches.

A great speech has the ability to make a person a legend that will be remembered forever. Public speaking is history in the making and something that I hope shall continue for a long time to come.
